I love nature & the outdoors, so it’s no surprise that I have a huge soft spot for a woodland wedding too.
There is such a magical feeling about getting married under a canopy of green. Leaves rustling in the wind, branches swaying overhead as you promise forever, beneath tress that have grown strong roots, stretched their branches, weathered storms, and stood the test of time. For me this totally sums up the journey of a marriage too.
I love a good wedding (obviously), so if you are planning a woodland or forest wedding, or you’re a bohemian bride looking for the perfect outdoor setting for your day here, are a few of my favourite outdoor woodland wedding venues to help you on your quest. Weddings in the Wood, New Forest, Hampshire
Weddings in the Wood have a license to hold wedding ceremonies and civil partnership services in the Carpenter’s Barn and they can also arrange woodland wedding blessings.
The barn accommodates around 100 guests for a sit down meal. A marquee can be set up on the woodland deck seating a further 125 guests. After the wedding feast, the tables and chairs can be cleared to create a huge dance floor, you can hire a band or a DJ to play in the barn, and the venue will even arrange straw bales for seating! There is a a licensed bar, a large fire circle and bbq facilities. Lawns for entertainment and a meandering trail through the ancient woodland. As newlyweds you can even spend the night in the Honeymoon Shepherd’s Hut and there is also extra accommodation on site for your guests.

Woodland Weddings, Chiltern Hills, Hertfordshire
Lila’s Wood offers everything you could want from a woodland setting. A secluded glen for your blessing, or humanist ceremony. Perhaps followed by fizz and canapés, with the option of a fully catered wedding breakfast set under the tree canopy, whilst the dappling leaf patterns and sunlight illuminate the canvas of the event tents. Rustic tables benches laid out to be decorated in your theme.
Beside the event tent sits a dramatic fairytale tree house, dressed with wisteria and festoon lights. From the tree house your wedding band plays whilst your guests schmooze & dance the night away. To top it off there is a licensed bar made from reclaimed wood, a caravan ‘gin’ bar, hammocks and Indian Soux tipis in which your guests can unwind. There is even a pond to float candles on, or make a wish. Adjacent to the woodland is a field where guests can play games and children can let off steam.
As night falls the venue comes alive with twinkling fairy lights, uplighted trees, and the crackling of enclosed fire pits. The woodland takes on an entirely new magic. This can be accompanied by mellow acoustic music or a full wedding band for those night owls. As midnight approaches the guests can retire to a village of bell tents in our camping paddock.

Fern and Field, Kent
Fern and Field offers a completely exclusive secluded location to hold your woodland wedding blessing and/or reception. Choose your wedding blessing location, then pitch your tipi or traditional Marquee and bell tents in The Twenty Five Acre Field, or for an outdoor wedding in a vineyard with the option of a woodland blessing choose Rolvenden Vineyard for your special day.
Farnell Farm has a choice of stunning locations, including ancient bluebell woodlands; a lake surrounded by giant fir trees; a boutique vineyard; and a twenty five acre wild grass meadow with uninterrupted panoramic views. It offers the ideal backdrop to a truly unique wedding day, with glamping available for you and your guests.
Wilderness Weddings, Kent
Wilderness Weddings can be summed up in 4 words…Peaceful, rustic, bohemian and relaxed.
You will have exclusive hire of Meadow Field, Wilderness valley with the gorgeous Deerson lake and St Mildred’s Woods. There are two different locations for ceremonies – in a woodland clearing or down by the lake. You will be immersed in nature, wild flowers and birdsong.
Alternatively, you have use of an open sided wooden tower decorated in ribbon streamers and giant dreamcatchers. Here, you will be surrounded by wild scented flowers like honeysuckle, bluebells, foxgloves, as well as rare birds such as Hoopo, Sky Larks and Marsh Harriers. It is a totally tranquil space with only the cattle grazing quietly nearby on the meadow.
The farm is over 600 acres and is completely peaceful; Receptions are held in a magnificent stretch tent and they also have a brilliant Champagne Shack bar and a range of quirky vehicles and vintage fairground games for guests to enjoy.
Wilderness Weddings also offer Glamping! Your guests can stay in beautiful Bell Tents with chandeliers, hardwearing flooring and proper raised wooden beds with crisp cotton bed linen, duck down pillows, with fluffy hot water bottles and snug throws, as well as sheep skin and Persian rugs. A breakfast picnic hamper is provided too and hot tea & coffee for the morning. What more could you want from a woodland venue??!
